Stealthy nozzle placement..

I've been reading up alchy but I have a few questions.

1. On a stock turbo, high 11 sec car how long will the alchy tank last, ie how many 1/4 mile runs? I know there is a lot of variables with this but I'm sure someone can give me an idea of what to expect.

2. I power brake my car to 15-17psi of boost before launching with the TPS approx 2.5 volts. Can I set the activation to come on after I floor it, like with a TPS and boost setting? I don't want it to be activated simply with boost.

3. Does anyone have pics of a "hidden/stealthy" nozzle and hose placement? I'd like to hide the nozzle as much as possble like maybe through the back of the vacuum block or??

4. Does the nozzle need to be in front of the butterfly in the throttle body?

Mounted mine in the outlet of my IC. This is on my stock intercooler. Did the same thing with my new stretch IC. Being mounted lower than the tank I also installed a solenoid that opens when the pump comes on. Was having a siphoning problem before I did the solenoid. It could be more stealthy if you put some wire conduit over the hose I suppose.

On Razors Alky Control kit there is a way to run one of the controller wires to a switch so that you can turn the shot off while you prepare to launch and than when to launch hit the switch and it sprays. You can mount a toggle switch or do a pressure switch on your brakes so when you dump the brakes it runs the alky.

Footbraking to 17PSI??!! Are you kidding?

The nozzle should not be after the throttle body, or you would have meth sucked thru at vacuum. A solonoid could be added, like the plate system turbofabricator made on that TT set-up posted recently. (six jets under plenum.)

It is a misconseption you shouldnt spray alcohol while boosting. The issue is the ability for you to tune your air fuel ratios while building boost.. and the ability afforded by the ecm on the car.

On my stock computer car, I would reduce pressure while building boost as it created a richer condition going into power enrichment. A wire was added to the controller to allow playing with this feature.. Hence its development. But a wide band should be used when making air fuel ratio decisions.

On my FAST equiped car.. non issue.. my alky sprays the same without further reduction and the VE tables are set so it doesnt create an issue.

As far as hiding nozzles.. typically it creates having to run a solenoid which could lead to an issue at some point. Issues are not what you want with your fuel system.. the alcohol being one. KISS is the best principle.. that is if you want trouble free results.

You always weigh the risk vs benefit when you make a change or design.. adding a solenoid to a system that would work great without it is foolish. IMHO just to appease cosmetics.

Was having a siphoning problem before I did the solenoid. .

Had the nozzle been placed higher, the solenoid would not have been needed

Here is a pic of mine. I didn't try to hide it. A friend has a Snow kit and he placed his nozzle a little closer to the TB than I did and then placed the red plastic line that Snow uses inside of a rubber fuel line and then ran it along the fuel rail. Everything is black. It's hard to notice.

Here's some pics of my "hidden" system. Although, I would HIGHLY recommend Razors COMPLETE kit, and just install it as instructed. His kit works just plain AWSOME! And yes KISS is always best. I built my system a few years ago and wanted to run the car MAINLY on methanol. I have yet to get the car to even need alcohol yet. My current tune up is PIG fat and the alky slows the car down. DO NOT try and duplicate my system, unless you have good tuning knowledge (Ok, shut up guys........I'm WORKING ON IT........OK! :tongue: ) I had to install a NOS alky solenoid to even START the car, as it would suck enough alcohol while just cranking it to FLOOD the plugs! The car will run on just the alky nozzles all the way to 4800 rpm (no boost) with the pump turned OFF! I still have a ton of work AND tuning to do to the car. The alky system is not hidden, though it could very easily be that way if I wanted to, but WHY? I may even spray it with a 75 shot of N20, and won't try to hide THAT either (unless I decide to run in NHRA Pro Stock Then you can call me "Darrel Alderman" ) In the Buick Community Alky is just one of those things that MOST everyone uses....kinda like no one uses stock turbos anymore ('cept me )

Are you the guy that turbo'd the Ferrari?

But also i must agree RAZORs KIT IS AWESOME and alky has come light years from what it used to be with the "old skool" BGC kit and the DIY kit... etc.

Depends how much your needing to spray/spraying.

Typically a 12 second car TR is 3/4 ounce per second. Your results may vary

Alky use

I have made 6 passes with Razor's kit @ 22psi on a ta-49. Alky tank was full when I started and still had plenty of Alky left for thrashing on the way home from the track. His kit's are very efficient if used correctly. Of course as Julio said it depends how much you are spraying, but regardless it is very efficient.
You can't go wrong with this kit. Great kit, great support. My car is will go 12.0's all day and still have plenty of alky left for playing around.

I did build a twin turbo Ferarri 5 years ago. My shop is a 2 3/4 car garage that I can fit only one car at at a time in I don't do this for a living, just sanity. I have been building racing vehicles for over 30 years. I have been using ADI (Anti Detonate Injection) since the early 1980's, when I use to build 2,240 cid Rolls Royce Griffons for an Unlimited Hydroplane team (beer boat)(we would go through 65 gallons of 115/145 av gas with an addative in it, 25 GALLONS of 50/50 water/methanol, 3-4 gallons of oil, and 150 lbs of N2O ("nawz" for the younger crowd.)in 4-5 minutes in one heat race) I have built Stock, Super street, Nascar, FAA certified, URC, Sprint car, and even a lawn mower or two in my career. Jets are my livelyhood, but the turbo scene is my passion. When not working on BIG planes, I can be found in the garage tinkering on something or watching my kids rowing crew.
I have been involved with the Buick community for nearly 20 years and I have found Razors customer service to be above board and he really has NO equal. All vendors could take lessons from Julio. Just my opinion, make up your own.
