steering column help

steering column from a gn, can the chrome stalk be replaced by a black one from a 89 steering column? or can a 89 steering column from a lesabre T which is floor shift. can that be converted to be in use with a RWD car. 89 coulmn is FWD and was connected to a rack, if this can be done, please let me know, thanx
 
An idea

You can use the black stalk. A few years ago, the Buick dealers in my area informed me all replacement stalks were black. That was then, though.

As far as using the front driver column, you will be better off using the proper column from a rear wheel drive car. The reason? The top half of the column is basically identical, but the lower half on the other side of the firewall has some major differences, both inside and out, which will require you to disassemble the column and "convert" it to a rear drive column with pieces from a rear drive column....way too much hassle IMHO.
