Step In Memphis and Nashville people .

Planning a RV trip in late June thru Nashville and Memphis with a group of five 40 something guys and girls . Doing all the online booking now . We like having a real good time ! PLEASE tell me the must see's in Nashville and Memphis . all the well known and off the beaten track places to eat, drink and see . Thanks . and the places to stay way from .

LOL.....more to life than building engines and cars . Big music fan so this trip will be a riot . would of had it built the day before yesterday if it wasn't for 1 kid in University now and another starting this fall hopefully in London England . Both will be sucking cash like no tomorrow out of dads " fun time TT " bank account . Oh well ...somethings in life come first . lol

Murfreesboro is just outside of Nasburg and has the Stones River battlefield and don't forget to go south and go to where the Franklin battle field is. Both are good places to go visit.

I would check out Sun records studio, if it is still there......which i believe it is.
"Where it all started"!
Also, downtown Nashville has a bunch of bars beside each other and across the street from each other with lots of history on the walls.
Live bands playing in everyone of them when i was there, was interesting to see 50 year old signed pictures of artists that had played at the bar along time ago!
Also of interest would be checking out the original Grand ole opery, The Ryman Auditorium.

Yup could not have said it better myself:wink:.Taking the family to California in 2 weeks and my oldest starts college in the fall.Could be the last time we can all just get up and go.The family is getting older and the cars have taken a back seatGood luck

Yep...Sun records is on the list , will look into the others as well . Someone also PM'd me and mentioned Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, Tenn . only problem it's a "dry county" no samples on tour . That blew me away , didn't think there were such places in the US that were "dry" . we'll have to scratch that tour off the list and make the detour around that County . .

Forgot about JD. Nice tour but yes, TN has dry counties and dry citys as well. If you feel like going going on a bit of a drive the parkway is a national parkway but I can't remember the name of it right now. You can get on it just west of nashburg. Just remember that it's no faster than 50 and they do partol it. Very pretty drive.

well here's a question I should ask so my ass doesn't end up in a County jail in TN . Are we even allowed to have alcohol in the RV if we happen to drive thru one of these dry spots ???

Wife and I honeymooned in downtown Nashville. The country music hall of fame was awsome. The Nashville Zoo sucked a big one though. Guess I am spolied with two great zoos in Chicago.

There are two areas in nashville for music nightlife.

1: Broadway/ 2nd avenue/ printers alley. I saw Demos on your list and it's in the middle of that area. Printers Alley is mostly karaoke, but it's historic and worth checking out. It's on Church street between 4th and 3rd. Broadway has all the famous country bars. If your'e lucky you might catch a country star at "The Stage" or Tootsies. You could spend all night in this area and have a real good time. Then end your night at the Hermitage Cafe right down the road. The big river bar and grill is on Broadway and a good place to eat.

2: Near Music row there are a few bars, but suprisingly they are much less country and the crowd is typically younger. All The recording studios, Sony, Ascap etc.. are near here also. One of the studios allows you to cut your own song for fairly cheap. I have no idea which one.

You should also see the Ryman Auditorium (the original spot of the Grand Old Opry). It's on 5th ave. between Broadway and Commerce.

You could see Andrew Jacksons home, "The Hermitage". It's probably 20 min. from downtown.

I would reccomend not going to the loveless cafe. It's not what it used to be and it's more or less a big tourist trap. There are better places to eat all over nashville.

The Opryland hotel is kinda neat. The mall next door is still closed from the flood and probably won't re-open.

There are probably plenty of bus tours to take you around to see where all the country artist live, but you probably can't even see most of their houses from the road. I wouldn't waste much time with that.

I dont' go downtown to eat much because the majority of the restaurants are chains. The two hole in the wall places I like to go are Rotteirs and Browns Diner. Rotteirs is on Elliston place near Vanderbilt University. The food is excellent. Browns diner looks like a real dump, but it's the best place to go if you want a really greasy burger. It's on 21st ave. If you had to pick between the two Rotteirs is better and has more options.

Yep, no samples. It's probably at least an hour drive from Nashville to get there.

As long as it's not open, you're fine. Same laws as anywhere else. Dry means you can buy it there and restaurants can't serve liquor.

Beech Bend Racetrack (Bowling Green, Ky.) on I-65 has test and tune on Tuesday---regular schedule on Sat. and Sun.

KWIKR1 my family and I are currently in Millington, TN(10 miles N of Memphis). We will be moving out here permanently in March.. We just found a house yesterday in Brighton. Hit me up when you get out here. Be safe.

BTW if there are any other folks out this way hit me up as well so we can get our cars together.
