I have had my car tied up for 2 months with this plaging problem. This is a fresh rebuilt, It has been to several transmisson shops costed me above 3k to rebuild so far including CK performance governer and 200 page manuel and NO-ONE can fix this thing. Need help bad. I need someone who can fix this or give me an idea on where too look to fix this. I am no transmission rebuild and Im not touching the Vodoo Box behind my motor. Chris I have your manuel it TELLS you on how to rebuild it NOT on how to DIagnose the VoDOO I have tried everyhting and I have nothing to show but a busted up brand new governor and a busted up 442 that sucks to drive. It downshifty once in a while. Not sure WTH is going on. I need someone in minnesota so I car get the car fixed.

I assume you've tried loosing the TV cable 3 or 4 clicks just to see if she'll go back to first? Loosen it up a bunch and just drive around the block easy and see if she'll start out in first.

If it does what does this mean? I had a bowtie overdrive TV made easy kit on there but thay took it off when thay rebuilt said that I didnt need it.

i'm assuming the 700r4 and 200-4r are somewhat similar when i look at this, but i have a few GM service books on the two transmissions, theory of operation and diagnosis and troubleshooting... i have the diagnosis one for the 700, but not the 200, but in it it says:

Condition: 2nd gear start -

Inspect component: Governor Assembly for "Valve Stuck" or "Governor support pin too long or missing"

and Inspect Component: Forward Sprag Clutch for "Sprag assembly installed backwards"

Other than that i dunno... that's just what the book says... i dont even know what a sprag clutch is off the top of my head :-p

if this means there's no tv cable at all and it's a 200-4r, you have bigger problems

second gear starts

hey litdog

I had the same trouble with my trans right after a rebuild about 3-4 yrs ago

the problem was that the pump pressure was not strong enuff to make the second to first downshift. i replaced the front pump and it solved my problem.

If you have no TV cable that could explain the reason for it not downshifting since the TV cable helps control line pressure from the front pump and yes a 700 auto works that way too. put that TV back on and try driving it.

i Have a TV cable Its just I had to put the Old original style on there. I had just got it back today and thay had removed the seal on the govenor and readjusted the TV cable and now it seems to be fine. I dont know if that seal missing will screw anyhting up? what do you all think?

Doesn't seem right but if it works, I wonder if someone drlled a wrong hole in the VB so it was getting too much oil to the gov.

trans

everything seems to be fine now?

ok since it seems to be ok you need to check your line pressure on the trans in all the gears. cause if the line pressure is still low you will simply burn the bands/clutches in a short period of time if making some decent power.
