Sting Ray.........

Man I was on a web site that has the old Schwinn Sting Rays for sale........ I gotta have one again. Years ago I had an Orange Crate I think I may cough up the buck's for another one. Small time up front slick in the back 5 speed shifter shocks on the banana seat. I really like the cotton picker and the orange crate so cool....38 yr old guy driving/riding down the street on a vintage bike

I'm with you on the crates. Growing up, all the kids in my 'hood had them. We had an Apple Krate, Orange Krate, Cotton Picker, Lemon Peeler, and a Pea Picker. My one buddy has started collecting them again and has a few of each. By the way, Schwinn is making the krates again.

A friend of mine that restores Krates said that Schwinn stopped building the reproductions. Not sure if they had problems or if they were just limited. Also, the repros were not allowed to have the very cool shifter in the middle. Too many kids got hurt back in the day, I'm told. Hard to believe the prices "those old bikes" bring today.
