Ok guys i its been a long time since i've posted on here but here one for yea,

How much power will the stock block hold before killing it. I now have the ta54 and iam going with the v2 intake and on top of that i will be putting a 50 shot of nos on the car but really to cool the intercooler down.

thanks guys:)

Are you still on the factory bottom end? The strength should be the same as the 86-87 blocks. People will disagree but I've heard it from Duttweiler himself that there are no signifigant strength differences. With that being said, mid 11s should be dead reliable and mid 10s should be ok. I've said it before, I got a run with a Viper GTS from about a 40- 130mph roll with the mods in my sig minus the Ford intercooler and 3" Dp and managed to put a few carlengths on him. I've never had any mechanical problems with the 100s of runs put on the car except for when it overboosted but that was my fault.

Its still the stock bottom end , i didn't know if i would be pushing the crank and rods to much or not.Should i go with some better main cap or a griddle.

I forgot to mention I have/had a girdle. I would go with a girdle and stock caps if I were you. It's good insurance and even if your current combo isn't enough to warrant the girdle you will still have the bottom end to take pretty much whatever you can throw up top later on. Like I said, I've had that thing making some crazy power like almost spinning out from a third gear roll at 26psi boost in front of a lot of people.

you'll find out when it goes pop :D

it might be time to think of starting on another block deburring all casting edges to help keep cracks from starting and a girdle wouldnt hurt either but it will hurt the wallet by time you buy one and get all the mahine work done you will have alot tied up in it for sure.

as far as the crank and rods you should be ok as long as you stay out of detination

as for the pistons its a 50/50 call cause someone on here said there hotair pistons had the steel ring land reinforcements but my factory 85 turbo pistons do not have them and i have all the documents on my car on all work done on it up till i bought it and the only time the pan came off the motor before i got it was for a real seal change.

you know were im headed with mine now ;) it should be interesting when i get done with it but it will take me a while to get it together..:(

i think i have 2 14 bolt 84 blocks here if you might want one let me know and i'll hang on to one and you'll have to bring your hiny down here and get it basically i have about $50 in each of them and it would be nice to get it back out of them one day.

i have to keep working on getting faster so you have a goal

your heading in the right direction it just takes time

later Kev...RED
