i think thats the part number from summit that i am looking for.. i am remember this off the top of my head from like a couple months ago, if i am wrong, some one correct me please..

i was wondering if there would be any problems running these valve springs with a stock cam? and i have a noisey lifter... would stiffer valve springs be a bad thing unless i fix that lifter? thanks

Those are the Comp Cam 980 springs. I put a set of these on my 50K mile GN a few months ago....replacing the tired stock springs. I installed them without using the stock "cups". They aren't much stronger than the stock ones. You should be fine.

If you have a noisy lifter, you need to see what's causing that. How many miles are on the engine? This would be a good time to take off the intake manifold and peek inside. Get a good look at the lifters and check the cam lobes.

The CC980's are a popular choice when replacing valve springs.

Good Luck,
John

When I pulled my troublesome .030 over, 204/214 cam motor out earlier this year I stuck a completely stock (never rebuilt) one back in and slapped my heads on it. So I have been running with cc980s and stock cam for about 4~months/3000~miles now. No problems, runs/performs better than ever. This was supposed to be temporary

Neil, if you haven't bought the 980's yet, I have a deal for you...

The new springs might agravate the lifter noise if it is just the lifter. If you can pinpoint the noise, replace the offending lifter while you are replacing your springs.

the car has about 65,000 on it, is there anyway of finding out which lifter is bad before taking the intake off? just so i know....

I'm running the 980's on a stock 72xxx mile engine. Just got the motor running in my camaro. Haven't had any problems yet, seems pretty quiet also.

I've done the comp cams 980s in two of my cars, and i've had two buddies use em their cars.

I used the cups and inserts in my last car and i think that way responded the best.

Definatley check the lobes on the cam. Turn your motor over, and make sure each pushrod is going up. Especially #3 exhaust. I was going to do the 980 job on mine, but found out my cam lost that lobe. 70,xxx on the motor, stock cam and springs.
