Putting a basket-case motor together after a long period of time, and I'm not sure all the parts are there.

Did the stock motor use a bronze thrust bushing on the cam, or is there really nothing between the cam gear and the block? Doesn't seem to me that cast rubbing on cast would live long...

Thanks,

There is nothing between the cam and block on a stock motor. There is a spring loaded retainer that goes in the nose of the cam that rides on the back of the cover.

what he said.

the thrust face on the camshaft has a drilled passage to transfer oil coming from the front cam bearing out to the drive gear.
