new plugs
bigger wires
under hood braces
rear seat braces
Adustable wastegate
All of those parts are under $100 bucks, alot under $50. Put your extra pocket change in a jar and after a while it will add up. pocket change + time = performance parts. Thats what I did, now it takes help from my wallet too. Damn, why are buicks so much fun?

I've been reading all the posts and really did not want to get involved but the other night I relized something after I beat a wrx 2 out of three times from a stop. I grew up with my friends older brother being a big turbo buick nut. I have brought that knowledge to my SRT-4 and plan on high 10's low 11's next summer. Anyway what happened with this wrx was all night he mouthed off "Its just a neon" ,"Its still a neon" "Its ugly" bla bla bla bla bla. I say then race me. he saysits not worth my time. not worth my gas. So I said I would fill up his tank with 101 to race me. he says OK First run I spun out alotand wheel hop because I launched a little high. So I stopped and let out some air in my tire. (Ol street racing trick) He comes back and said that counted I said fine. Next two runs I beat him then on freeway I beat him some more then when people ask him he says ya the "SRT-4" beat me. I ran stock on 92 octane. He was stage II something another.(WRX talk) on 101 octane that I paid for. So I have a new slogan."Its only a neon 'till you get beat then its an SRT-4" I love my srt-4 it reminds me exactly how it used to be when I rode around in my friends Regal. guys would pull up and ask if we wanted to taste big block exhaust then next night wow what under hood. of course these days turbo is very common in cars 10 years ago they werent. as far as falling a part and everything else I dont know yet and frankly dont care my engine is strong and tranny is stought. If paint peels off or mirrors fall off or rust I dont care it weight reduction and I'll say I drive so fast the paint wont even stay on or sunroof blew off. how well the engine is built they have a car with srt-4 engine tube chasis about to break into 7 seconds. they are also doing ok in the rally area too. The fastest roadster in the world is powered by srt-4 engine. Comparing these vehicles is unfair because they are different classes but there is no need to down another car and speak opinions as if they were fact. When it comes to fast cars Dodge knows what they are doing and have been doing it alot longer than suburu or mitsubishi. Comparing mitsubishi with dodge is dumb to because they share in everything they do and put out some of the fastest cars around.
 
Either that WRX owner sucks at driving or lies. Here are some
WRX tuner numbers for stages.
Easy street: (no stage II), I - 344 hp, III - 500hp
Cobb: power package I - 260hp, stage II heads - + 30 - 50hp
J-Spec: street power package - 290hp
Turbo XS: stage II 311hp
Prodrive: stage II 275hp
Vivid Racing: drag pack 297hp
Most of those systems were dynoed with 91 octane fuel. Technically the fastest roadsters in the world are the porsche GT, Benz CLK-GTR, and the ferrari 360 spyder, or F50. So many motors are on tube chassis that run ungoddly speeds. That isnt a neon besides the block. Let us know when a neon with the stock body and frame can run better than a 9.75 1/4 mile, b/c buick and subaru have already been there. Dont forget to keep the passenger seats, and be able to drive to the track.

I was kind of thinking the same thing as Nick, although the SRT owner had a well written post and some good points.
My TXS stage 2 with minimum boost (oldschool untuned unichip, not a tuned Utec) dyno'd at 289 hp, so I believe the 311 TXS advertises. If the guy had a real stage 2, somethign was awry.

Seperate question after looking at your SRT-4 website... what is the point of the hood scoop from the factory? I figured it was functional, but if you had to cut out that metal circle to get the "ram-air" effect, now I'm confused. Also, in another picture, I see a K&N cone down in the fender. How does this work in conjuction with the stock box that you cut?
 
First to EAT z06: I dont know what he had under hood. With the numbers you posted I'm guesing he's lying. He launched fairly well for him not to know how to drive. As far as roadster the roadster in question is those older looking cars that have the side flaps on engine bay to access engine instead of hood. And Neons have been in 9's high eights before the srt-4 was a concept car look at last years nira, nhra standings.

Nova: Something might have been awry like I told Z06 I didnt look under hood My knowledge of subie's is limited I've done two engine swaps from wrx engine into impreza amazing that the swap is plug and play I wish Dodge would think of things like that. The hood is funtional but not to feed air to air box but to feed air to the back to keep turbo cool. I've had her glowing a couple times. The filter I believe you are talking about seeing is behind my fog light which is a CAI I have been designing since no one makes a decent one yet. behind the Filter is Home depot parts that I've used to make a mach up and goes straight to turbo eliminating airbox. This was on my car for a few days.

I knew I would get some flamage on this but these two replies have been resonable thank you two. As far as fast cars, times, Hp, and so on is concerned. Any car can be made fast thats what is great about beeing an enthusiast. I like my srt-4 because it is simple and contraversal. I do alot of street racing so if you show up in Viper ever one wants to see it run but know one wants to race you. I show up in SRT-4 and everyone want to prove its just hype. Then they become a statistic. I've lost but it dont happen often and I would rather lose because that drives my hunger to be faster. I lost to a pinto (embarassing), a volvo( new 5 cylynder turbo) actually my best races I lost five times in a row because we were so close I thought if I did this or that but every time I improved so did he. a 3000gt twin turbo spyder, we stop on interstate and took off from dead stop as far as I'm concerned he smoked me we went to 150mph then my passenger started freaking out. He sead he spent a week tuning his car because I gained a little at top of third and forth and know who keeps up with him past 100mph. So if you dont repect an SRT-4 you will be supprised when find out how bright there taillights are.

Well, you COULD put those wheels on your car, but then you'd need to call up ol' Bubb-Rubb and order an exhaust whislter...it's only "fo dekorayshun!!"

Neons/SRT-4s/piecess of crap whatever you wanna call them, they suck. suck suck, suck, and when there not busy sucking they enjoying sucking b/c they suck so bad. pieces of crap. know what the diff is b/w a srt-4 and a ricer? nothing ahAHHA THEY BOTH SUCK SO BAD. hi 10 sec neon. haha lemme guess with FWD and stock motor and more boost. is that what Dodge told you b/c they suck too suck suck suck they do!!!

Those wheels didnt look like they were on the car. They were just sitting in front of the wheels that were on the car.

I wasn't going to post this buttt. In 1987 we put a Hypertech chip and a 160 thermostat on my brother in laws T. We took it to the track and the best it ran was 14.23 A friend of my son's put a K+N on his SRT and ran............. Let's just say it was slightly better. That being said I think the Srt is pretty neat car has room to evolve and are going to be stout performers. I will not get caught ragging on a 4cylinder after the evoulotion I witnessed on my sons Talon! Ugly maybe but the WRX aint no day on the beach either.
 
The wheels were never put on my car. Two heavy anyways. I gave them to my neighbors friend. here's a link if anyone cares to learn a little more about the srt-4.

To turbo buick I'm sorry to have upset the Turbo god with a sucky car. I did not relize that a car with a smaller engine that puts down similar numbers and reacts to mods as well as the precious Turbo Buick would give you penis envy. So what its ugly who cares if you bought your turbo regal for looks you could have save a couple pennies and just bought a cutlass.

I guess there is flaming fagots like Turbo buick in every group but I remember Turbo owners being more appreciative of fast cars.
Randy I believe you to be right I would be willing to bet that for every mod done to a Turbo regal if the same was done to srt-4 you would see exact same results if not better.
 
I haven't driven one yet but I did get the opportunity to drive a PT Cruiser GT with the turbo. I tried both stick and automatic. The auto dropped more than 1000 rpms on each shift, even using the AutoStick and winding it out. It needed a looser TC it seemed. I'm no good with a stick but it seems the way to stay in the powerband on those engines is to either powershift or slip the clutch. Powerband is way up there around 5K+. However, when the turbo is providing the little boost that it does stock, it has a good feeling similar to or reminiscent of the Buick. I wholeheartedly believe the car would respond well to mods.

You started off with a couple well written posts but then you went downhill. This is a TURBO BUICK board. Why should we have to listen to some srt-4 guy bashing us? If you don't like the attitude here then leave. Personally, I come to this board to read about TR's not mustangs or srt-4's or anything else. We love our cars like you love yours. But no one is going sit here and listen to you compare our cars to yours and not say anything. Our cars are a rare breed. Far as I'm concerned we are the turbo gods here. Hail to the Turbo Buick. The srt-4 will never be what a turbo buick is. If you want to preach the greatness of the srt-4 go to a srt-4 forum and do it.

Then why respond to the post? No trickery here. The post was comparing a G.N. to a SRT Most pepole on this board have other cars besides the Turbo Buick and enjoy reading about other cars. We have two Turbo Buicks,two Turbo Talons,and an SRT so I was getting a kick out of this thread. First off I would like to say I did not come here to troll. Sorry to anyone that feels that is what I have done. Like I said earlier I feel the same way rolling a round in my SRT-4 as I did when I was a younger kid rolling around in Turbo regals. Comfortable while rolling around town and doing christmas shopping. Rare enough that People have taken pictures next to my car. And quick enough that when some jerk off pulls up next to me and roars there beast, all I have to do is slip the clutch and after a quick spin of the tires all thats said at next light is those srt-4's are quick. Now back to the reason I have come to this site I have been thinking of turning my Neon into an alcholic and instead of doing an exhaust job just doing a jersey dump. I've been asking around locally but most have never heard of these things and those that have know nothing about them except a therory. Then I said to my self I wish I could find some GN guys. And the light bulb turned on searched internet and bang right here on this great site answers to all my questions. Again sorry if I have offended anyone with my posts I just thought I would help inform some of you of different(not better) just different performance vehicles out there. I will not be leaving these boards and will try to keep you guys updated with what I'd like to call my Turbo Neon powered by Regal Knowledge.

P.S. I will own a GN someday but I have to find the perfect one.(close to stock)

hahaha, idiot. how is something "two" heavy? ahaha n00b! ahahah show me an srt (sucky car) that puts out 400 tq to the wheels almost stock. oh ya thats right a srt-4 (sucky car) is just that, a 4 cylinder and therefore sucks especially in the tq production department. but wait youre a ricer you dont need tq, especially low end tq. all you need is 100000 rpm HP to run 4s. thanks for the turbo God comment, its nice to be respected. btw taste is subjective, tard. regal > neon. btw, do you know what a fagot is? here's the definition:
