Bowl work, to me, is just cleaning up right under the valve, and around the valve guide. The description of Tom Cramer's car. at the RJC web site, says "runners not touched, stock intake", or some similar words. But you know how people like to say "Aw, it's just little old stock V6", when they actually have $10,000 dollars worth of mods, so the definition of "bowl work" can vary. If you really know how to port (I don't) then what you do is just eliminate the bottle neck- make the worst part of the port as good as the rest, and then stop. But I think that takes lots of experience, and/or flow bench tests. Safest thing to do is to pay someone who has had success- after that you can copy!
