I think the main argument was being able to use a two step rev limiter with a distributor over the stock coil pack setup. Although, I run a coil pack system and can run a two step rev limiter with fuel drop, ignition retard, and/or spark drop, or a combination of all three. Not exactly sure what the limitations are with the stock system.
What ignition box are you running?Different for everyone and your preferences. The stock ignition is pretty darn good and actually reliable. I would say run it until you think it is an issue. I used the dis-4 with stock ignition to mid 8's. I had a problem that I didn't know what it was so I changed ten different things at once to be 'safe'. One of those things was the ignition and it was not the problem. The car does start easier though and there is something to be said for the simplicity of the distributor.
For what it's worth, with some patience for fitment, I got the distributor to fit with all the original brackets, tensioner, and a/c.
Honestly, I would like to know too but on gas, just not on my car. Still undecided between COP and distributer.I am interested to see how far the stock ignition will go on E85. I found the limits of the dizzy with a crane Hi6, which has gone 8.0's in TS0 cars. I switched to a MSD 7al.

I will see if a well known racer who ran a twin turbo car can take an engine pic, the car ran deep on the sevens with a coil pack on it.
