I was wondering if stock injectors would supply enough fuel run low 12's and perhaps high 11's?? I am using the stock intercooler, turbo, and stock internals. Also, I was wondering if the engine would be in any danger of detonation or blowing a head gasket with 20 or 21 lbs of boost with the alky on the street with proper tuning?? I need to know this cuz I am picking up my 87 GN next week with lots of money available for mods :D . Besides my friend's ready to run me with his cammed 02 WS6 and hes got a lil headwork done too!!!

yes it is very possible to run low 12's on stock stuff...you have to have a high fuel pressure and a fuel pump to support it though...also a race chip and race gas (at LEAST 110 leaded), a pair of SLICKS, and the stock turbo is good up to 23 psi of boost on a COLD day...check out my website to learn how i ran my times with the stock stuff...it's really easy to do and alot of people have done it...

stock injectore

Yes, at the time, my car ran a best of 11.98 at 112mph with my factory stock injectors, a TA49 turbo and a Red Armstrong XP fuel pump running 22 psi boost and no knock retard. I made at least 3 back up passes without changing anything and it ran consistently 11.98 to 11.99 ET's.

i'm glad that my stock injectors can support those times and hp levels but what about my stock turbo..... should my first mod after the basics such as fuel pump etc etc etc be a bigger turbo or would you guys pull the engine and put a mild cam and a little headwork because in about 4 months i'll be getting 2K bucks that i'll either spend on the engine work... or a bigger turbo with tranny and suspension upgrades

Stock injectors are good to very low 12's, but upgrading to 36# injectors will allow you to run into the mid 11's with a relatively stock car (slightly larger turbo, big neck on the stock intercooler, good exhaust or dump, race chip, race gas, + traction)

Trying to run very fast with stock injectors isn't worth the risk, though. Around 110 mph in the 1/4 is when you need to think seriously about upgrading.

What are your intentions with the car? An 11 or 10 second street/strip car? Race only? You can go 11's reliably with a moderatly larger turbo without a bigger cam and head work by using bolt only parts, BUT a mild cam, head work and modrate sized turbo will allow you to do it easier, more often and with less boost and fewer parts breakage.

Remember to phrase "Speed cost money, how fast do you wantto go?" or "If it has tits or tires, it's going to cost you."

As was mentioned it depends on how fast you wanna go.. If you run 11's then you may get kicked out if you don't have a cage then you may be screwed if you don't want one..
I run a stock turbo and intercooler but I do use larger injectors for safety but I hope to be in the 11's when it cools off outside (which may not be for a while:().. I would love to have it run tens but my car is too nice to put a cage in it so I'm happy if I can hit 11's with my stock parts..
