stock location choices

I want to know what you guys think. I want to replace the stock speakers with 5.25 and 3.5 2 way speakers or 5.25 components with the tweeter in the dash. what would sound better. I know that kick panels would be better for imaging but I just want to use the stock locations. Also who has mounted speakers deeper than 2 inches in the door and what did you have to do. Thanks

I recently changed all my speakers out and installed the following:

The dash speakers required me to install the speakers under the dash so that the tweeter would not hit the dash cover. It took some time and patience to put them in. I did not find a speaker with a less pertruding tweeter. The 6x9's were installed using the adapters from 4x10's to 6x9's. I recommend puting in 6x9's for the rear deck or do not use any if installing a subwoofer. Let me know if you have any other questions.
