Is the M90 correct for a '97 GS?

Yeah, all the GSs have the Series II L67 which is the M90. Easiest way to tell is that the snout is longer on the M90. The bonnie, Ultra and Riv had the Series 1(M62) SCed engine until 96 or so when they chenged over to the Series II.

How do you know the bearings are shot? Some times there is a bit of play in the snout which feels like the bearing are shot. There is a plastic coupler between the snout and the rotors. After awhile the coupler distorts a little and you will get some play. It can sound like the blower is crushing ice for banana smoothies.

It actually sounds like three or four dice are loose inside and rattling around. I do not specifically know what the problem is yet. I guess I just might as well get the wrenches out and take a look!!!

Car has over 132K miles. A replacement may be needed anyway.

Yankin the whole blower is a pain, because of the fuel rails and whatnot. You may want to start by pulling off the snout and rotors out of the housing and inspecting them.

Forgot to mention, the SC oil has prolly never been changed. Unless something is truley shot, new oil and a coupler should quiet things down.

Check out regalgs.org, maybe do a search on SC oil and couplers.

I have already ordered the coupling offered by ZZ Performance and I hope that this will fix the "dice" rumbling through the S/C. I plan on removing the entire S/C as the entire compartment could use a good cleaning anyway!!!

Can you think of any additional maintenance items that could/should also be performed. Besides an oil change, what else needs to be performed?

Cant think of anything else. Might as well clean the TB as well.

You will need two gaskets, one SC/Manifold and one Throttlebody. The factory seal between snout and the SC body is red loc-tite. I used red loctite once but the second time I used it I had a minor oil leak and I ended up using a very thin bead of black RTV. I think most people use RTV because it is a gaurenteed seal. But with the loctite there is no danger of using too much and gumming up the gears or rotos.

What else...you may want to grease the roller bearings. Stock stuff was this dark blue crap. I dont know much about high temp lube.

Dont use motor oil, go to the dealer and get 2 bottles of SC oil.
