stock transmission question?

Charlie is right! I had a 1981 Regal with the NA 3.8 VIN code A engine. It had a 350C trans from the factory. Just because you've never seen one doesn't mean that the factory didn't build them. 350's are quite reliable compared to the early 200's and 200-4Rs and I can understand why you may never have seen one.

I didnt say i didnt believe you I just said in my trans shop experience i never seen one. I looked at some old trans to car application manuals and some of the early G-bodies were equipped with 350c's. My bad! however most are 200c and 2004r. As far as which one is most durable, no doubt the 350 unless your full race then ofcourse 400 or glide

That is the BOP version of a Powerglide. I recall seeing them in Olds Cutlass and Buick Skylark/Lesabre, But I don't know if Pontiac used it too. I think it was called a SuperTurbine 300.

Interesting tidbit: Buick had a switch pitch converter version of that 2 speed trans in 1967!! I don't believe any other GM Division used switch pitch version of the 2 speed except Buick.

Sorry Dave but it's a real powerglide. It has both bolt paterns on it. I've got an ST300 and they're slightly different. Chris718 has a couple of them as well and confirmed it's identity.:biggrin: A very rare and odd GM artifact.:biggrin:

Unfortunately no but I'd guess it was late 60's from what Chris said. It's the first one I've ever seen and believe it or not someone was running it in a dirt track car.
