Any free advice on how to make the changeover smooth and minimize re-work would be appreciated.

yeah make sure you have wd40 or penetrating lubricant

make sure you buy yourself a turbo saver, also buy a new gasket SCE one triangle gasket has worked well for me sce pn#4172 also the stock turbo return is hard and probably wont be to easy to fit, so gbodyparts has some good replacement one's also if its a ball bearing make sure you have the correct oil restrictor for the feed line

finally once you put it together not very hard, once you start mounting the downpipe make sure puck lines up if not you'll have boost problems puck needs to lineup unles your running an ext WG

if you need anymore help let us know we are here to help..and please dont pay someone to do it, aint nothing like completing something yourself!! have fun..

Ok. Penetrating fluid is soaking it now. I have the turbo to header gasket and the oil feed gasket. I'll be porting the wastgate hole with another board member Clue me in re the turbosaver? Thanks for the tips.

turbo saver feeds the turbo with fresh filtered oil, the original stock oil feed is dirty hot oil from the block that is not filtered, its a great investment imo..what bb turbo do you have?

bought the 6262. really looking forward to the install. Also replacing the IC with a PTE SLIC at the same time. I lost my city council election so now I have some time . Good therapy IMO.

are you ready to go fast lol.. 6262 is a great turbo im sure you'll have fun..but do it yourself and be proud of what you can do with your own hands.. thats how i view it

X2 on porting your waste gate opening or you will be chasing some crazy over boost / boost spike issues with that turbo!

Be sure to smooth / radius / blend the inside edges too! Leave at least 1/8" puck sealing area around wastegate opening. Easy to do. Since it's new you won't have a carbon footprint to see, so just put a smear of coloured RTV silicone on your puck, bolt the DP on to exh hsg and force open / closed several times to reveal the puck alignment / sealing area. I suggest taking it to a machine shop to have it bored out ....the silicone will stay in place giving a perfect imprint.

I went with Mark Hueffman's (TR Custom Parts) "Turbo Protector Kit" & am very happy with it.

Much less clutter then the alternatives.

Oh, one more thing, since you're also running the PTE SLIC.....I had to go with the shorty version of this oil filter since PTE's passenger side mounting bracket would not allow clearance to use the standard length filter cartridge.

Buy yourself the gearwrench swivel headed wrench set. Makes turbo change so easy plus they are great tools. I bought the metric set since every other car I own is a Toyota but they work on the Buick too. Good luck.

Best reason to mod a car I've ever heard, haha.

x2.

Stock turbo removal tool 4" grinder to get all the stuborn bolts off. Good set of metal drill bits to bore all the bolts out after I've broken them in the exhaust housing after turning the heads of the bolts off with my wrench. Having a metric Tap and Die set around is a good idea too. Unless the new turbo is new. Don't forget about updating your chip.

When i removed my stocker i used a torch and i didnt snap one bolt just heat them up the nuts up and or the housing and they should all come out...i replaced all my nuts and bolts with stainless ones.....
