Picking up my new ride within the next 2 weeks . it's been 30 years since I've strapped cars on trailers .and the old memory is not what it use to be . :D I plan on renting a U-Haul trailer . Whats the best way/method to strap one of these GBodys down on a trailer ? Thanks . :)

The new U-haul Auto-Transports are very easy. It's a dual axle and aluminum. Pull the ramps out of the rear, lay out the built in straps, drive the car up until the front wheels stop. Pull the straps over the front wheels and lock it down. Hope this helps!

well that sounds easy enough . I always remember having to torque down the suspension and it being a bit of a rig·ma·role . :) thanks .

I think for the axle they have a chain that hooks up and front has straps as stated above.

You might want to invest in a set of g-body t-hooks just in case the trailer doesn't have those tire straps and what not.

The trailer has everything you need. 2 straps, 2 safety chains. One note to remember is the chains are long that go to the tow vehicle & you Twist them over & over until all slack is gone before hooking to the tow rig.

Also, make sure that the trailer wiring does not get wrapped around the tongue. The trailer brake in the tongue will slide forward and cut the wiring....don't ask me how I know !!!
Nope, I didn't do it, the turd at U-haul that insisted the HE hook everything up right did it !!! Grrrrr

You don't need those. Especially if using a u-haul trailer. Nor do you need them on a regular trailer with d rings and straps. Not if doing it right that is. There's been several threads on here about the easiest and safest way to strap a G-body down.

Many of us do it the same way and it doesn't put the kind of stresses on the frame that t-hooks do.

You need 4 ratchet straps. and I call it the double X method.

You use the fram jack holes already in the frame. There is one behind each front tire, and another in front of each rear wheel each about 2 1/2" in diameter.

Hook a strap into each of the 4 holes, then cross the straps out the front and rear and hook them to the D rings on the trailer.

Perfectly explained!!!
