My Dynomax 17276 - from JEGS came in today. I'll call my muffler guy tomorrow am & hope he can install it this saturday.

2 SLOW or Dreamcar 86,

I trial fitted the Dynomax 17276 & I'm at a loss to how any room was found for necessary bends in the 2 1/2' pipes??

Pics of the install will be a big help.

Roger,

Turbofabricator is the brains behind the three muffler setup. I am certain that he will respond to this thread and help you out or you can PM him.

I have dynomax ultra flos, they are guiet. I have seen a guy with huge mufflers off a 97 chevy 1500, cant hear his car run!

You need to read my post #23 on this thread again. I explained how the third muffler came about. Turbofabricator had nothing to do with with this. I went to my fabricator ( Sean O'Brien ) after I came back from that trip to SoCal and asked him if he could make that muffler fit. Which he did.

Roger,

I had someone else ask for pictures and didn't remember that a friend had taken some a while back. I just got off the phone with him and he still has the pictures. He tried to send 5 of them to me and it wouldn't go through to my email. Its been a little screwed up and hope to get it fixed soon. He has 20 pictures in all from the down pipe back, but the 5 are of the rear muffler which is all I think you should need. If you or anyone else want them email me at turbodennis@comcast.net so I can email them to you. It might take a day or two but will try to get them out asap.

And I know it is tight but obviously it will fit. Hopefully the pictures will help someone install it.

Email sent.

This is a tight fit.

I don't want to restrict flow much, however, the drone is uncomfortable on any trips. I also believe a Buick should be quiet.

The electric cutout can be rigged to open whenever the volt booster activates.

Roger,

I'm not sure you understand how free flowing this three muffler system is. If someone just wanted quiet they would just put a stock muffer on the car. The reason for the three mufflers is to have it quiet without slowing the car down.

About 10 or 11 years ago I was at a track that was running night racing and had a noise restriction after nine o'clock. Me and some others were running with an open dump. I had made four passes with the dump open and then had to close it for the next three passes. I had this three muffler system on the car and was running 11.7's at the time at about 116 mph. If I were to give you or anyone else those timeslips and ask which were open or closed exhaust you would not be able to tell them apart.

Also a couple of years ago on my race car we took it to the dyno and put it on the rollers to do some tuning. We were only running about 20lbs of boost and with the test pipe removed so the exhaust was coming directly out of the down pipe. It was making 686 hp to the rear wheels. My engine builder was there and after about six pulls with open exhaust I said I wanted to do one more with the test pipe back in. This is through a 3 1/2 inch down pipe into duel 3 inch. Well that pull was 682 hp losing a total of 4 hp. All my runs with all three cars is always thru the mufflers. So if you are running the cut out to gain hp I don't think you will see any. And I would only hook it up so you can control when it opens. Unless you want to attract the police. So unless you just want to make some noise I don't think it is worth much.

If you do put the cut out on I would be interested in seeing some times at the track with it open and closed and see the difference. It would be nice if you could make 3 passes open and 3 passes closed. The mph would tell the most about the difference. Or if you could make some pulls on the rollers and get the hp difference that would tell the story too.

While browsing another post on a Pype's system I went to they're site and found this.

That looks like a true crossflow not an X. That may work for people interested in a 3 muffler system. Don't have any price or size but it is 2 1/2" inlets/outlets.

how about people recording there sounds and posting what muffler they are running so we could hear for ourselves and decide what we like.

The issue I have is drone at about 2k. At idle I don't find my car intolerable. I suspect that drone is what most people are complaining about.

Oops, my bad. Did not mean to take credit away from the rightful owner. After reading this I remember Turbofabricator actually giving you credit for this in the beginning in another thread.

No Problem. :) Didn't mean to make it sound like such a big deal.

Thanks for the reply tho.
