My guess would be to elimate weight transfer, keeps the weight on the front wheels

I thought of that too, but can the wheels on the bars handle 100 mph like that? I figured they were only designed to handle a short burst of speed, not 10 seconds of it? I'm not sure at what speed of the run that the weight transfer would settle on it's own.

If you ever catch import racing on espn2, all the fast front drive cars have wheelie bars. It is like Daves gn said.

i think I remember that they actually lower and put pressure on the ground, thus planting the front wheels more.....i dont think they are just normal wheelie bars...must be hydraulic or sumthin

As I understand it, they are set really low and when the front suspension extends from the launch, it puts weight on the bars and increases the pressure on the front wheels due to a longer lever. Hope that makes some sense.

Alot of Ricers actually raise the rear up on launch by air (compressed bottles) with the bars and after 2nd gear they drop it back down slowly. Puts weight on the front. Saw this on the International Drag event on SpeedChannel...

Ummm.....hello? Anybody here see a drag bike with any kind of power adder at the track? My GSX-R would lift the front end across the finish line and drag the wheelie bars if I sprayed it that long. Pro-Stock bikes pretty much drag the wheelie bars the whole 1/4 mile to the tune of about 180 mph.

If you have driven a FWD vehicle with some torque and power the front end of the vehicle lifts just like a RWD vehicle, which transfers some of the weight to the back where you don't want it on a FWD drag vehicle. Need to keep that weight firmly planted on that front rubber for the best acceleration possible.
