hello people; Something I just found out. A co worker was just talking to me about cars and her and her husband both have Subaru Foresters. Both with turbos and with standard trans. They had to wait for the standard trans but now there just autos. There cars are a couple years old. Just something I didnt know.

My wife drives a 2007 Outback with the 2.5 turbo engine/five speed. I think the 0-60 time is in the 5.6 - 5.8 second range. A hard launch with the all wheel drive is really fun.

And it is really fun in the snow and mud!!!

I don't know anything about the new one. It looks good, but is no longer available with a turbo so I have not even checked them out.

But, the older body style like mine (model years 2005-2009) I really like. I get 23 mpg around town. The highway is a different story - I will get 30 mpg on one trip and 20 mpg the next trip. I haven't cracked the code on that one yet - other than the faster you drive the more gas it sucks. It has a bit more body roll than I like, but the suspension travel down rough roads more than makes up for it. It takes off on a gravel road just like a paved road. It's overall a fun car that surprises most at the stoplight drags.

It is a great road car, but in the mud or snow, it is even better. The car gives you a lot of confidence in bad conditions. The snow in this picture didn't even slow the car down too much. I actually had to get the turbo in boost for it to spin the tires (all four of them).

Okay - forgive me for this but I just couldn't pass it up:

I had an '04 Forester XT auto. Loved that little car. Took it to the track and it ran low 14's off the showroom floor. I also started using open ecu software with a Tactrix cable to change the calibration.

Wife drove it everywhere too... she used to get mad at me when I was driving cus I would every so gradually sneek it up past 100mph on the highway until she started b!tching.

Wait until winter - you will not believe how it handles the snow up there in PA.
