Ya I know that tranny's the weak link but maybe with the new 260hp engine they stregthened it. I was reading on the 2004s that they are now able to run on all fuels but I would use 93 anyway. I don't drive alot of miles a year. It's really a pipe dream, I don't have the money saved :frown:

you would hope, but I have not faith in the 4T65E HD. If I wanted a FWD GM vehicle, I'd only go for one with the 4T80E found behind northstars. If you abuse it, and I know you will, you'll bust it sure as shoot'n. Also the engine has no idea what kind of gas you put in, its justs using the knock sensor to retard timing and set the bypass valve till it doesn't knock and that setting remains till you change the fuel level. Good Idea, but I'm not buying it.

Is that the trans they are using behind the GXP's? I have seen a few of them around. Guess it has a small version of the Northstar in it.

Bought the Grand Cherokee last night! I took it home for a few days earlier this week and managed 19.6 mpg for my work commute and I didn't drive it like I stole it, which is how the T gets driven. Hopefully this is going to pay off in the end!

just fyi my car has 140k on it and is still on the origional tranny(gs). the only thing i found in any reciepts was the guy saying it was giving him a clunk when shifting, they replaced the valve body.

granted i did buy it off an old couple that i'm sure did not beat on it but thats still a lot of miles. honestly if it makes it to 160k i'll think its served its purpose and rebuild the tranny just so i dont have to deal with it going out on me. and i'd like to start throwing some performance stuff into it...

i believe the gxp is still the l67 (older supercharged engine, series 2 3800, not a 2004) with some little stuff done to it. i know SLP did a gsx, thats a pretty cool car. there were 3 stage packages you could buy. from basically stock, different wheels, wood trim interior parts, embroderd head rests. up to a smaller pully, exhaust, a good amount of stuff done to the car actually. i'd guess the gxp is the same thing. i'm almost positive they aren't a northstar.

Cool, I don't know where you live other than ahead of brett's Talon, but if you get snow, you'll appreciate that 4wd more than you can imagine :D

BTW, when you blow up those dash tweeters, PM me and I'll tell you how to fix them. Don't look for direct replacements, because there aren't any. All you can do is buy factory replacements for about $70 each  . But since I'll tell you how to fix it, you don't have to concern yourself with that :p

1994 to 1996 Buick roadmaster. Slap on Snow tires and some weight in the trunk and they will go fione in the snow. LT1 will run forever if taken care of. Excellent room and comfort. Mine gets 22 on the highway and under 5 for one in really good condition makes it a really good buy. Also plenty of cheap go fast goodies to really embarass the import guys. I love mine and when it finally gives up the ghost, I will get another. Oh parts are really cheap so makes a good inexpensive daily driver.

Hopefully you have or bough a extended drivetrain warranty for your jeep.

2 of my good friends work at local chrysler dealer. Biggest problem with the jeeps are the tranny and rear ends. IF that rear goes out, 2K to fix it...at least the regular consumer price anyway.

I was looking to buy a similar jeep, limited 4.7 AWD...till he explained the issues they see on them...very common. Tranny 2-3K to replace and rear 2K to replace.

Hopefully you are lucky and dont' experience this problem...if you got the warranty......money well spent i am sure!

Good Luck!

As Spl170s has said the rears and trannys are junk. I see about 1 a week come into the shop.

I bought a 99 Buick Regal GS Supercharged and have been very happy with it. Good power and good gas mileage cant beat that.
