Anyone here ever have a sunroom added onto your house? Looking into expanding the living room. We have a large yard and really like it but when it's summer it's really hot and winter it's cold which means we really only enjoy the yard a few months out of the year. I wouldn't be giving up too much space.

Just curious as to any drawbacks, likes/dislikes?
Rough idea of the cost?
Going to probably call this week and talk to some pros.

We are putting a 3 season room on the back of my parents house right now. Well were until winter hit. I'll email you some pictures when I get some.

I have a 3 seasons Tri-State 600 Square foot room on the back of my house. We live in it all year long, it has carpet, wide screen TV. ETC. We turned it into our family room. 31k best money I ever spent. ;) I have a separate heating and cooling system and run a small Kerosene heater when it is really cold. Love it:cool:

I had 4 estimates, to stick it would have been 45k and up:eek:

Lifetime guarantee on entire room. :D

If you can, install sliding doors on all 3 walls. That way you can get a crossbreeze in the summer with the screens closed and it's better than just windows. Also plumb it for water and a bulkhead for HVAC. Down the road you may want more stuff out there.

Drawbacks: big windows let lots of heat in: bad in summer, good in winter hence my comment about the sliding doors. Even a ceiling fan won't move enough air to run the heat out.

Pluses: You'll have plenty of room for plants/ outdoor furniture to be used year round. A tile floor is best since you may be coming in with wet feet occasionally if it's ground level.
