My bud's Supra just ran 11.2 @ 124.

It has a single T61 turbo, computer upgrades, a 3800 stall torque converter, and some sticky tires on 16" rims.

And this guy is CHEAP. He has around $4k in upgrades.

HATE it cus it's a Toyota

LOVE it for obvious reasons.

Its just wrong!

My good wife bought me an 87 Supra with 35k on it in 1994. It was the best engineered and best made car I've ever owned. No competition. Wish I still had it. :-)

My TTA will run circles around it (stock for stock) and prolly go as fast for top speed, but, its not made as well. No harm in recognizing the truth.... ;)

If this is a MKIV (93-98) turbo Supra sorry I have to call BS on him having a single turbo MKIV Supra and only having around $4K in upgrades!!! Why you ask? Because I know a single turbo kit from SP, RPS, or GReddy will run you at least $4K-$6K, then at that point you "should" upgrade the fuel system (if you want to keep it safe cause the stock Supra fuel system is good to about 500-550rwhp max although some have made more than that pushing it with propane injection)..... Also, the BPUs (exhaust, boost controller, and cam gears) will run you about $1500 and then if he has a FM IC add about $800-$1K..... Now add in the cost of his converter, computer upgrades, and sticky tires and there is no way in hell he only has $4K in upgrades.....

Yes it is a MKIV
Trust me - he's cheap. It's not a kit.

He bought a cast single turbo manifold for less than $1k. (I think it was ~$600?)
A Turbonetics T61 turbo for less than $1k.
And a front mount. I forgot about the front mount! Sorry, my bad.

But anyways...
He fabbed a downpipe by himself. The rest is fabbed too. (oiling, intake pipes, etc..). Not the prettiest but it works.

The most expensive parts are the torque converter, turbo, I/C, and the manifold.

I've always told myself whenever I've seen one running hard at the track -- "eh.. it's probably got $50k in it". Not this one!

Okay that makes more sense to me........ I've just seen too many down here where the guy spent BIG $$$ out the ass for every single part....... Most guys down here that own them are the rich guy types that don't know how to weld or fabricate and don't mind paying an arm and a leg for everything..... There's no doubt those cars can go very fast without touching the longblock!
