Can you say morons? Someone posts down later that someone crushed a 89 ZR1 with 39k miles! Are you freaking kidding me? Also heard of 93 Teal Cobra and 98 Cobra with 80k miles traded in S.Florida for a hybrid b/c guys wife wanted "a nicer riding car." People are nuts!

any dealer that takes thos cars under the CARS program is also retarded- every one of them was worth more than $4500 for a trade in, and definitley worth more than that for the dealer to resell.
on the bright side, there are a lot of good parts that can now be bought off those vehicles...

Reading that thread about the Syclone, the Typhoon, and hearing about the ZR1 really makes me angry.

I think I'm going to do my own cash for clunckers to see if I can pic up some nice cars like the ones some of these dumb A$$ are trading in. The saddest part of this is that those cars have to be crushed:(  :(

no, they don't have to be crushed. the engine has to be killed, but the rest of the carcass can be scavenged like any other car in any junkyard.

X2. I just don't understand. I watched a video the other day of a dealership destroying a perfectly good running engine. It was hard to watch!

I work on cars as a side job to my normal mon-friday work. It just irritates me with some of these vehicles that people are willing to trade in just to get a rebate! Ive seen alot worse cars and trucks still out on the road than some of the nicer cars ive seen been traded in!

I just don't get it!:(

how many people that are outraged by the destroying of perfectly good engines has ever been to a demo derby?
i wonder how many perfectly good runnign engines get destroyed in those every year- i bet it would make the number of engines put to death under the CARS program look like nothing.

The dealers are dumber than the people trading. They could have the $4500 and then doubled or tripled their money.

I am saving my money for the bank/repo sales next year. Some of these people are the ones who overpaid for houses and helped cause the whole mortgage thing we just went through. Kind of makes someone want to piece together an old junk car they have had for some time and just get the money off a new car.

the Syclone was saved. It never made it into the system. It was headed there though.

Any info on the ZR-1?? I didnt hear about that one. Shame about the Cobras, especially the Teal 93; if it was real. That guys wife needs to be smacked!!

Come on use your head. The dealer would just give them $4500 on straight trade in deal.I did the cash for clunkers and they gave me a price on just trading it in {$2500} or cash for clunkers{$4500] a 1997 dodge Ram with a 160k and got 12 mpg around town. Blow the sucker up!

Have you tried getting credit in the past couple years? Not very easy if you have crappy credit. ANYONE could get a home loan during the housing boom. I also doubt that many people who have been foreclosed on are able to run out and secure a car loan. Anyway, they have these places now that you can go to and get a one year old used car for much less than the new sticker price...... They're called used car lots.
