What are some of the symptoms of a bad o2 sensor?
My car just started acting up. It idles great yet on the freeway it wants more throttle to keep it at speed. It used to cruise at @ 15 inches of vacum now it's at 4. It bucks a little and almost wants to shut off after getting on it.........yet it idles fine
I did just run some c16 through it and have heard that using that fuel can harm o2's.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Sounds like you may have a fuel problem. Check the fuel filter, as that is the most likely cause. Symptoms of a bad o2 sensor can be: Intermittent code light, black smoke exiting out the exhaust, loss of power and fuel economy. The car will essentially run too rich.

Hope that helps to point you in the right direction:D

hey that sounds just like the problem i tried to describe in the othert thread but mine acts up just like the way u say it idles just fine but when i get on it bucks alittle and it does feel like it wants to turn off and even does 3 soft little pops in the exhaust

hotair85 is this is caused by a fuel problem do i need to change fuel filter ? and what else? and when i fire up my car first thing in the mornig whitre smoke comes out of the exhaust is that normal or not if not what could be causin it ? how to fix it sorry for so many questions but i do apreciate all the help

you can buy a new o2 sensor at autozone for under 20 dollars, it also comes with a 90 day warranty
meaning if it goes bad from race gas just take it back for a new one !
you can buy a Denso, brand Oz sensor for around 50 bucks
from
www.casperselectronics.com

but if your losing vaccum maybe u should check your vacuum lines for cracks. maybe 1 dry rotted or popped off?

start it up and spray some TB cleaner on the all the rubber hoses and egr valve-area
and listen to see if the car revvs up when applied !!!!!!!

do you have a scanmaster?

Turbobooster, it sounds like you might want to check your head gasket to see if any coolant is entering the combustion chambers. Coolant causes the white smoke. If you say that it is only on startup, then I would have to look at it. I am also saying that the fuel filter MIGHT need to be replaced. That is the cheapest and easiest part to replace. If the problem continues, you might have a blockage in the lines somewhere, bad fuel pump, or just got a load of bad gas somewhere. One thing I forgot to mention is the injectors. One or two of those may be gummed up a little, but I doubt it from the situaton you describe.

Well it turns out it was the o2. I changed it and it runs great again. Thanks for the input guys, I really do appreciate it.

No, not after partial throttle. I would mash the throttle and when I got off of it the car would stumble and die. It didn't make as much boost as it used to probably due to the over rich condition. O2 sensors are cheap so I didn't mind starting there....could of been worse.
