Check them for binding and make sure you're adjusting them properly. Whenever I do a trans I don't take a chance on it. I always replace it with a new one (NAPA and CarQuest sell them for about $25).
To properly adjust one, hold down the D-button and push the plastic peice in all the way. With the cable hooked up to the trans and throttle linkage get in the car and press accelerator firmly to the floor. You will hear some ratcheting noise, this is normal. The cable is now properly set. Do not attempt to change setting to "tweak" shifts. If it still doesn't shift right, find out why.
