I just got my trans rebuilt in my 89 T/TA and the shop said there was ALOT of medal shavings in the pan It is the orignal trans and has the orignal torque converter and I told him I wanted to use it! He said,"I would not use it if I were you because all the medal shavings would be in the converter as well"
My question is, is there anyway to flush out the converter to get out the medal shavings? Thanks in advance!

The stock convertor is the D5 coded unit. Nothing special or unique. You would actually be better served installing a restalled or remanufactured D5 from Pro Torque, Pat's, PTS or similar.
If you are doing a rebuild, then replacing the convertor is mandatory. No ands, if's or butts. If there was a ton of metal in the bottom of the pan and the guy said its the convertor, then I would listen to him as he is probably right. The metal debris in the old convertor can ruin a fresh trans.
If it was a car where you had a high dollar race convertor and something came apart, then you would have to have the convertor cut opened to clean it. No way to flush all the crap out.

I liken building a fresh trans and installing the original converter to waking up in the morning and putting on yestersdays socks. Not something you really want to do.

The old converter will have all the same material in it as the trans. The material in the pan may well be from the converer actually starting to come apart. The cost of a stock Z-28 converter stalling at 2600rpm is not a costly item and will be relatively cheap insurance to make sure you are starting over with a completely fresh trans system. Make sure you also flush out your lines very good prior to installing the trans. That would also include cleaning the cooler (s) out as well.

Thanks, Mark:D
