I am looking at giving my GN a girlfriend (1987 Cutlass 442). I know people say not to build high performance t-top cars because there is little support in the roof. I found a really nice one that I am looking at. However, I am a little worried when it comes to mod time. As I'd like to install a supercharged small block later down the road. Is there anything that can cure this besides a cage? Body bushings, rear "X" braces etc? Or is this just a hopeless ordeal? Should I just wait to find a hard top? Thanks for all your guys help.

My car has t-tops, my quarter panels around the rear quarter windows look flawless. I have added all the x-braces from Kirban's, as well as body bushings. Other than twisting t-tops have other issues, they can leak but I like my t-tops. My cousin has put a 455 in an 83 Hurst Olds with t-tops, no issues for him.

More head room with the t-tops when wearing a helmet! Here is my buddy's Stage car, it's straight as an arrow.

Just do the trunk and front frame bracing, it'll handle tighter than a stock solid roof.
