Anyone use a A-1 Auto T-Top Weatherstrip Seal Kit? Any good, or is there a better one?

Good luck finding GM weatherstrip. If you do, plan on paying close to $500. I put the 1A Auto on mine, which is Metro brand. The fit was pretty good. I didnt glue mine in, stays in the garage 99% of time. If it was a daily driver, I would probably invest in the GM, but they are getting scarce.

I have the Metro Kit - It does not have the hard plastic ends that bolt to the body and the bends are a little rough - but that same area was a bit rough on the Stock Brand New GM seals too.

I would like to put my hands on a Soft Seal kit to see and feel the difference.

Up until a few months ago we carried the GM T-Top seals. They have been discontinued by GM. Almost every seal we carry except for the trunk seal is factory GM. There are two major players in the aftermarket world that make T-Top weatherstrips. Neither of them have hit on the exact material (formula) that GM used that has the right feel and touch. The end result is you need to fudge a few things to get parts to seat properly whether it is a T-Top or a door seal etc.

Currently we do have another company looking at making them that happens to make a superior door sill weatherstrip. We carry the GM black door sill weatherstrips and also offer this superior one that is better quality than GM.

I am not saying another option for T-Top seals currently doe not exist outside of the two big players only that our company is not aware of them.

We also carry the small anti-rattle seal and that is not GM that helps take up the gap with the T-Tops.

The reason we don't carry the GM trunk seal is because it is so costly and the aftermarket one we offer works fine for a fraction of the cost. A word of advice when messing with your T-Tops if you have the locking version (1986-1987) be sure you always lock them. They have been known to blow off under acceleration.

It will be several months before this source we have looking at them has a production product available. It still may be possible to find a set of GM ones and if you do they will cost a pretty penny of the seller realizes what they have.

Good luck

In the mid 90's I worked for a firm that used custom foam padding in one of the products. One problem I had was with the molds that were designed for the way foam was made when the CFC gas could be used to blow foam - that obviously changed. I do not know how they do it these days but I know that the MFG method that was used in 1986 is not permitted today so some things may never be exactly the same.

I believe that even if one were to use a clone of the stuff that was put on their car. Even that clone would require a window/T-Top adjustment after 23 years of the glass sitting on the original stuff.
