T.V. Cable wont adjust.

I just put a freshly rebuilt trans into my 84 T-Type but I cant get the T.V. cable to adjust. I have read and re-read all the instuctions I can find on the subject. No matter where the cable is set, it will not rachet or click or anything-just stays put. I dont want to damage the new trans, especially since its not even broke in yet. Thanks for any input. John

I just bought a new cable and the problem is solved. The ratcheting adjuster was just not working properly.
