i have a ta-49 with a garret exhaust housing, is there a larger exhaust housing that will bolt on with the exhaust wheel it has?

Both the PTE housings are the ones that will make more power. If you are spooling it up super easy, then go for the .85 housing.

That's what we are talking about, the exhaust housing. PTE has a .63 and .85 and I believe the comp housings are .60 by Garrett.

The PTE exhaust housing will flow more even if the AR ratio's are similar. I believe PTE said the Garrett .82 flows similar to the PTE .63 exhaust housing to give you an idea.

Since you have a Garrett .63 exhaust housing if you go to the PTE .85 you will probably gain at least 3mph on the swap. Many have the PTE .63 housings on their TA49's though which is great for spool up and power.

I'm waiting for my dyno session to see if I'm going to upgrade to the .85 PTE, good for 2mph at the track over the PTE .63.

the pte.85 did not show any mph increase over the garret .63 and et worse even on a loaded launch.the pte .63 picked the car up 4mph but only dropped et a tenth and a half.the pte housing offer more flow but only at higher boost ranges so if you are below 22 psi you are probably better off with the quick spooling garret.

I am interested in this thread

I have a TA49, yet to be installed, and am assuming it is stock from the manufacturer.
Is there a simple way to identify the exhaust housing make? and size?
What are the opinions regarding exhaust housing comparisons on a basically stock motor w/motron 60's and a stock tranny and converter?
This is a car that spends the majority of its time on the street.
thanks in advance.
Jim

jimG,does the housing say precision on it or garret?just for a quick reference, the smaller housings spool faster, the larger housings spool slower but flow more.hope this helps:smile:

I run a TA 49 turbo with a stock D5 converter with a Precision .63 exhaust housing and my car spools fast!!
