Just bought 87 GN stock low miles

I have a new TA 6266 PTE and plan to use stock converter And TT chip 42 lbs injectors with Hotwire harness

Will this be too much lag?
It's new I though of selling to get TA58?

No Alky
93 gas

I belive it's to big. 6131 might be better or 5558 ish

Im not a turbo guru, but Ill give my opinion.

6266 (is it Gen2 BB?) with the factory converter is a pig on the street until close to the top of 1st. Then it hits like a hammer. I ran this set up for roughly a year thinking it was acceptable. Got tired of the lag, lazy launches and bought a used 10" PTC 3200 stall. It's too loose and I hate it. I have a 9.5" PTC on order with Dusty and am eagerly awaiting it.

I would guess that in the range your wanting to operate (93 gas, no alky, stock heads) the 6266 is going to be difficult to control boost levels and not very practical. I run 27-28 lbs on the street and had to port and radius the wastegate hole to manage boost. I also have an HD actuator. Mine is a Gen 2 6266

Besides the spool, I would think the 6266 would over power the stock converter if pushed past the power level of a 58.

I never ran mine with the converter locked under WOT. Never had issues. I'm not advocating the stock converter with that turbo, just saying I did it. Trapped 119.5 with it too unlocked

On 93 gas and low mile car why not just run the stock turbo?

Too big, you will not like the drivability, better off with a ta49, 5857, 5858 or a converter change and 6057/60mm..

My last stocker was high elevens with unopened engine and 6765
DBB
I want another 100 hp
I've had two TA 49
Wasn't that impressed

I have a 9 sec one with all the goodies and it's just not fun or safe on street
Now though a stock car feels so slow I don't wanna drive it

I need something to look totally stock and still give a big smile at wot

If you were going to run higher boost with good octane or alky then the larger turbos would give you more at higher boost. At the boost level you will be restricted too, the stocker is hard to beat. You're not going to gain 100 hp using 93 octane.

Prob right
I just don't wanna mod this car much

I have another entire stroker 249 CID and all the stuff I could swap out from my other race car I just don't want to

I have an EA stage 3 and Edge converter that went 140-141 mph also bit seems like once you go down that road you end up with another drag car

I may just get a slightly bigger turbo with DBB and see how it does

If your not impressed with the Ta49 on the street then you probably didn't have the right combo behind it.
If you want 100+hp your gonna have to change more things in your set up.. Fuel system, dp, octane, converter, k&n, Tune ect...

then you know what it takes to make that 100hp over a high 11 sec combo.11 sec is it if you don't want to mod the heck out of it and don't want a high matainence car.

Just put a TA5469 on a stock trans and converter car. She definitely lags but once she hits man she goes. Plans to get new trans and converter are in the books.

You've got a 9 second car. A 13 or 12 second car is going to feel SLOW! I'm sure Bison could dream up a cam that could get you the power you want with 93 octane along with heads, turbo and converter to match. That might be an interesting challenge for him. Just messing with a bigger turbo is not going to cut it. You'll still need supporting mods either way.

If the car is not "out of turbo" for the operating conditions (rpm/boost) a bigger turbo will only slow down the spool , and car. "I" would stick with or close to a stock turbo. Don't see 100hp happening on 93 and stock motor even with a 120mm turbo.

Yeah
I bought the TA 6466 for the RPE stroker and ported irons from Tom that were not stamped champion for this car to be super stealth bit just really don't wanna swap it out

Thx for all the helpful suggestions
May get in touch with bison and see what he could offer me

Like mentioned above if you are keeping the stock converter use a 44/49 58/58 etc. The 6266 will spool like a slug on the street with a stock converter. I ran a TE63E years ago. Pretty similar to a 6266 at a high level. I used a stock converter and it was a dog on the street.

Seems I can't send a pm to you?? If interested I would trade up from my TA 49 plus cash.....................
