I am interested in upgrading to a TA 63 big shaft turbo. I would like to know what some of you members have run with this turbo. My car is a street car and not strip. I have been running a TA 60 but am looking for a little more but still enjoy streetability. I am not interested in the BB turbos. Any input would be welcome.
Thanks

My dad's car has the TA-63 turbo with the old school Garrett .63 A/R housing and he has run 11.50's @121mph with crappy 1.7x 60's on 23-24lbs of boost with a pretty conservative tune. He runs a PI Vigilante 3200 stall LU converter and it spools up very well while cruising on the street.

Hey 86,
Thanks for the feedback. 121mph is fast for a streetable car.:)

Yeah it's a fun street car. This turbo is easily capable of high to mid 10 sec passes. I know my dad's car probably has a high 10 in it with a little better tune and a decent 60'. Even if you don't want to go that fast it will run easy 11's on lower boost and the nice part is it's a big shaft turbo so you have the added reliability. The previous owner of my dad's car ran 11.38 @118mph on 20lbs of boost with pump gas and alky injection.

If you're going to buy this new then I'd rather get a newer technology turbo like a 6265 from PTE. If you have a TA49 and need a rebuild this makes more sense.

if the TA-63 is anything like the T-63E....

I went 10.92 @123.7 with my old t-63E @ 26#, with a 1.59 60'

I have a 2600-2800 stall in my car.

Yes, its a GREAT street turbo

I have since upgraded to a ITS 70mm DBB

I believe the only difference is the compressor covers, the TA series look stock but the PTE exhaust housing will give it away.

Nice time on the 63, what was the timing?

Thats basically what i am looking for :) I might have to reconsider the BB version.
Thanks
