I have my 84 T-Type but my factory RPM gauge is very inacurrate. I wanted to buy a Tach, nothing fancy just a simple 4 wire tach (Sunpro). What is a good source of tach signal. I've installed 2 tachs before on 2 other cars but they were carburated. I know that there is a green clip under the hood that is not connected, I've heard this is also a tach signal but not sure. Can anyone give me hits. Thanks.

red - positive
black - ground
white - light
green - tach signal

ok i put a tach in my car , a few months ago

i basically used 1 of those blue splice connectors from radio shack

if you look at your car, find the wire harness that plugs into the electronic Coil module ( thing where the spark plugs plug in) if yer a newbie

you will see a wire harness that screws into the side of the coil module, and there is a bunch of wires coming out of that harness

from the driver side of your car, count in 4 wires from the right of the harness. (side closest to valve cover),
there is a white wire that is just right of a yellow wire

splice onto that white wire and that will give ya a signal

hope this helps !

tach install

look next to the coil pack and you will see two white wires in a green terminal not plugged into any thing. That is your tach lead just connect the green wire from your tach to the green connector using a female terminal from any auto parts store and just pug the two together.
