Where is the wire located for the tach lead, i would rather use one in the dash if possible. I have a digital dash if that matters. I did a search and everything said behind the alt. but those were from 86-87 cars and i cant find it on my hot air. Thanks.

If i remember correctly, mine was hanging out below the coil pack....green terminal??? again this was a long time go, so i may be mistaken...

I am sure someone will chime in here with a definate answer...

Although I have never confirmed it for myself, I have seen numerious posts saying that it is the green wire hanging below the coil pack.

It is the green connector with 2 wire's going to it. Also I tried to hook up 3 different aftermarket tach's and none of them worked. I also have a digital dash, and read somewhere that you have to hook a resistor to the hot wire. Anybody have experience with this.

I have a digital dash, and i am using a Sun Super Tach, without any trouble...it was a basic plug and play operation...no resistors or anything...

i used the green harness, below the tach...i believe i was able to put a standard connecter on the end of the wire for the tach and just plug it in...

Not sure if that helps ya...

Its the green wire (driver's side) right below the coil pack area, also you have to cut one of the wires in back of your tach to set it up for a v6 motor, i have a AutoMeter Monster Tach and in the back of the tach it has 3 wires, you must cut one of them for it to work properly, you can get the info from the website, its in pdf format and shows you pics on how to install, just look for your model number and you're set to go :)

Thanks, i looked for the wire and could not find it, i will look tomarrow and remove a few things to try and find it. I bought a NORD. digital tach and yes i have to cut one of the loops to make it work for a v6. Is there any wire inside on the digital dash.

sorry i meant to say, the green connecter beneath my coil pack...not "tach". I didn't have to dig into my dash other than to get to the fuse box for power and lighting...

I found one lead it is one white wire with a black conn. it comes out of the engine harness before it gets to the motor it comes out with the maf and charcoal canister wires, is this it.

Nope, that ones not used. (not on my 85 GN anyway) Keep going towards the pass side. The tach lead comes out with the rest of the wires for the coil pack, etc. It is a double wire (white I think) with a green plug. You can use a typical female spade crimp connector and plug it right into it.
