Let's see the rule book for 2012 TAI Season. I think JD will be illegal!!!!!

The easiest way to get rid of the faster car is make things on it illegal.

Blue charge pipes are illegal, stickers bearing the initials "JD" are now illegal, Prostars are illegal, subwoofers are illegal, etc :D

What about allowing e85? Its injecting alcohol, so it still fits the class name. Easy way to make sure the car is on e85 is using a test tube tester. A 2 minute test confirms the fuel. You don't have to worry about mixed blends of race gas and ethanol because the pump version is the best and lead actually hurts its octane.
You could grow the class with this. I would try to compete in it. Plus its looking towards the future.

I want cars in the class.. but the rules are to run a crappy fuel and lay down a number creatively. E85 is far beyond a crappy fuel. Now if you run pump fuel and inject E-85 through another source under boost.. Now we are talking. Like the old ATR 7th injector setup for example.. that would be cool and totally acceptable. But to allow someone to use a higher octane fuel is not fair in a class limited by octane. Unless we can figure out a way to reduce E85's octane to make it level with 92/93.. maybe mix in 87.. like 6 gallons 87 and 4 gallons E-85.

If all the other guys participating in the class say its ok to allow E-85 in the class.. i'll do what what the masses want. But stuff like this has to be crystal clear cause when someone shows up to race, they should be allowed to race.

I look at it like this: e85 is a fuel offered at normal gas stations right besides 87 octane and usually $.70 cheaper too.
People are using Meth to raise the octane. Some say as much as 110 octane or better. E85 is advertised as a 105 octane fuel.

See as you state E-85 is advertised as 105 octane fuel. 93 is just that 93. Injecting anything above that 93 to get to whatever octane is yielded is just what the class is all about. Thats why its Turbo Alcohol Injection. Whatever that number ends up being.. is a mystery.. It is what the class is all about. As its an "octane" class. And adds that variable of trial and error, drama, guessing, etc that racing on a higher octane fuel gets rid of. Its way easier with C16 to make big power than it is with 93.

As an E85 vs Meth class may be interesting. As both avenues are producing about the same results. But in a democratic environment.. the racers rule.

What about meth on top of E-85? Say someone runs E-85 then throws an alky kit on that car to help with cooling... Wouldnt that make your scenario unfair?

We are also dealing with access to E85 is limited. Example here in Tampa there are no stations. Closest one is 150 miles away on the Florida Turnpike. BG was the same, the host gas station we all filled up at had no E85. The next race in NC who is to say that fuel will be available. So then your bringing your own fuel and not pumping it in from a gas station where your fellow competitors are getting their gas. Again "octane class" that is suppossed to run on crappy gasoline. Its a street car class that is why we race with gasoline from gasoline stations.

So a car on E-85 would have to have the logistics of having a gas station nearby the host race track so it can fillup with the other competitors. Not run on any other fuel source. And be approved by the racers in this class. Still meet the same weight requirements.

Thoughts? Me personally.. I would say yes to injecting E-85 as a supplemental. Like the ATR setup. As to bringing the car already filled up cause there are no gas stations.. no way.

Also to outlaw JD, you'll have to make it a violation to assist other racers by lending them their generator, tools, compressor, tightening uppipes, finding sliced radiator hoses before they make a run, fixing brakes, lending oil and sharing alky tuning knowledge ;)

I had the same issues with JD. Helped change my alky pump. Looked thru my logged runs. Helped all weekend with some engine issues. JD is trouble.

You Guy's aren't supposed to tell everyone my SECRET'S!!!!!

HELP RACER'S to RACE!!!!!

I do appreciate the kind WORD'S!!!

I have always believe what goes around come's around,

Treat people the way you want to be treated and good things will come.

Kevin I do agree with Julio, the class has always been about 93 pump gas and Alky, E85 sounds like great stuff and is diffineatly cheaper but there aren't a lot of rules in TAI but the big one is all have to put 10 gallons in from the same source.

thanks JD

I have used E85 in some other racing hobbies. I like it! The fill up/cruise has always been part of the class rules as far as I know. I'm not for or against E85. Just hard for everyone to meet to fill up at the station and there not be anyway for the E85 car to add fuel.

Was my pleasure Shane!!!!!!!

Give a call anytime!!!

Julio can you post the rules as they stand now? Thanks JD. Looks like we all really appreciate your help. You are the backbone of the class.
