Ok, heres the deal.......
I have a drag car and purchased an aluminum wing, the one with the 4 rods that bolt to the bumper. I didn't want to drill in the perfect trunk lid so I went with a glass...for weight also. The rods need to have brackets mounted to the bumper, it's a perfect chrome bumper. So I'm going glass, for weight again, and having it spray chromed for $300. I'll have $500 in the rear bumper, and don't want to drill into the bumper either.

My question is has anyone ever taken the tail light lens apart from the housing? I want to try this and drill the holes in the lens to attach the mount for the rods there. Can the lenses be taken apart without getting broke in the process and glued back together or what??

Here's a pic for those who want to know how the wing looks...

For some reason even with IMG's around it, it won't show the pic??????????????

Whats up illegal,
You should see if any local guys like surej or prasad have a chrome bumper. lots of times thats they get replaced for painted pieces. That way you could keep your mint bumper.

Well, I will keep it but would also like to lighten the car up with a glass bumper(shhhhhh), and really don't wanna drill into either of them. Just looking for an alternative.

There are a number of phillips head screws connecting the bezel to the lens. Remove them.

As you start to lift the bezel from the side, there is a tab in the center rib of the taillight bezel that seats into the center portion of the lens that must be released. Free that tab with a thin screwdriver before you get the bezel lifted too far. It can be broken off if you do not free it before lifting the bezel off of the lens.

Thanks, exactly the kind of info I was looking for:)

Can this car "ever" be returned to stock,,sounds like you are going to have a colllection of stock parts sitting for ever,,you may want to built a car out of them:D

Nice Paint sceme(sp?)

Maybe not completely to original but I can get pretty darn close. I just have a thing about cuttin up good sheetmetal. I would rather set it off to the side so when that day ever comes I don't have to hunt panels down and spend alot of coin or put alot of work into butchered panels.

I was thinkin of doing something like that for paint, that car looks bad a$$
