If it is, that's proof.

I've seen this before on a old Honda. The car was driven 200k on like 2 oil changes.

Was it just one lobe?

Sorry fellas, not my pics. Just something I came across that I was curios about. That's why I posted in the lounge and not engine tech

The one I witnessed Mike it was all lobes. Cylinder one exhaust 2 was as bad as that and was still running.

looks like the roller quit rolling.

way back in olden times (1996), i had a bitchin' 85ish Chrysler LeBaron station wagon that had the mighty natually aspirated 2.2 in it... it started making a lifter tick noise, so i checked the oil and discovered that it was a quart low... when i took the oil cap off to add the oil, i could see 2 lobes of the cam and they both looked like someone threw a handful of sand in there... so i did what any broke guy would do: added the oil and put the cap back on. the tick went away and i drove that car for almost a year before selling it to a friend, who sold it to another friend, and on and on.. when i finally lost track of it 5 years later, that car was still running as good as it was when i had it...

Those 2.2 Chrysler engines loved breaking cams. On that Honda the roller is right below and that controls two valves. Looked like a Vtec engine
