Today I was fixing some vacuum hoses and when I restarted and revved the engine listening for the vacuum leaks I noticed no vacuum leaks but a very noticable taping noise coming from the upper part of the engine. Its not audible at idle but once the throttle is opened it is much more audible and the sound increases with rpm and then goes away as rpm keeps climbing (probably still there just cant hear it due to engine noise) Does anyone have any experience with this? Could it be a wiped lobe(s)? Bad Lifter? It doesnt sound like bottom end and it seems to becoming from the front end of the motor under the intake. Thanks for your suggestions!

Check your cam sensor. You can use a screwdriver or vacuum hose held up to your ear, put it on the cap of the sensor, see if its in there. Using the same method, you can check for other areas like exhaust leaks. My car does this too, and I can't seem to fix it. Hope you have better luck!
