Hi, I recently bought a used TBO 348 Turbo and I have a couple of questions.

1.) Does anyone know where I can find the following.

A.) A good rebuild kit with an instruction manual?
B.) The part that bolts on to the intake side of the turbo?

2.) The turbine wheel has a small chip off the top of one of the fins. would this effect the turbo in any way? if so where can I get a replacement turbine wheel?

Thank you,

This will effect the turbo. take any thing that spins at high speeds, even something as simple as a cheap home floor fan, cut a chunk out of one of the blades and turn it on high speed. Its going to wobble all over the place and shake around. Same thing with the turbine wheel. They need to be balanced, if one is missing a chunk of the blade its no longer balanced.

Turbine and inlet $125 shipped

Buick spec, I found a company that will balance the turbo for me. After I get it balanced do you think it will be ok to run after I rebuild it? And how can you tell if a turbo has already been balanced?

Bison, I like your offer but I want to see if I can get away with just balancing the current one I have because if I get a new one I think I will have to get it balanced anyway. But if all else fails is the turbine you are selling new? and how much would the inlet be by itself?

It's not new but has zero defects. $25+ ship for the inlet. Your best bet is to buy a cartridge or a known good assembly since based on your posts your not to sure about what you getting into.

The chip isn't very big. I'm just going to get it balanced. but I will buy the inlet off of you. I'm new to this form stuff so idk how we would make the transaction.

Actually I am going to design and fabricate my own inlet at my work. sorry for wasting your time. Thank you for all the advise though.

leaving the chip is a bad bad idea...

especially on the stock wheel which is cast...

only needs a chip or a broken fin to start a crack.

and if it cracks at boost?

kiss you motor good by.

Thank you. I will post a pic of it this weekend so you can check it out. it desn't look like its in an area that would receive a lot of stress.
