I have a Century built trans and a Precision 5 disc lock up convert. Using Type F trans fluid.
When driving normal the trans shifts firm, maybe a little too firm. Around 45 MPH under light throttle the TCC lock and snaps your neck neck back. Then if I lift the throttle a little it unlocks and almost makes you lunge forward. Then it seems a few seconds later to lock back up again. This only happens under light throttle and around 45 MPH. Well most speed limits around town here are 40 - 50 so I seem to be at 45 a lot. It is better if I drive in D instead of overdrive. Under heavy throttle the shifts are crisp, firm and sometimes will break the tires loose. No complaints under heavy throttle.
I am thinking about switch fluid to something a little easier or maybe installing a switch. 1. prevent the TCC from locking up under computer control. 2. allowing computer control. 3. manual lockup for racing.
I was told type F fluid gives better harder shift, does it also affect TCC lock up?
