What causes them to go bad? This is the second one since I replaced my trans with a extremes tramsmission and new torque convertor. Thanks for any info.

USUALLY METAL FILINGS ITS A MAGNETIC COIL METAL FILINGS ARE MAGNETIC

There's more than one failure mode.

I'd say a third of the time it's open circuit or shorted wiring to the thing.

It must be run properly to not pinch or get stressed.

The rest of the time it's a bad solenoid.
