I am replacing the TCC in my 200. The kit I bought from O'Reilly Auto Parts came with two spacers to be put in between the case and the solenoid on the 200's. What happens if those spacers are not used? The TCC I removed is the same style and same length as the new one. The old one did not use any spacers. The only thing I noticed is it had two bolt studs that the TCC mounts to spacing it away from the case.

The Universal TCC Solenoids fit the 700R4/4L60 and 2004R Trans. To fit the 2004R correctly for alignment the spacers are needed, for the 700R4/4L60 the spacers aren't used.

spacers

Thanks. any idea on what the outcome is if you dont use the spacers?

The spacers keep the Solenoid aligned straight in the bore, so not using them could cause a leak from cracks by stressing the Solenoid housing or just from misalignment.
The Studs with nut/spacers do the same thing as the Bolt & Spacer.

Sounds like the solenoid has already been replaced once before with a universal one. You won't need the spacers supplied with the new one.

Did you check with your local gm dealer. Just repaced mine a couple years ago. Got the exact replacement part from them. Maybe the discontinued that too by now. Might not hurt to askand find out. Tell them you have a gn and it seems they still have a lot of parts available. My 84 came with alluminum rear brake drums and my dealer come up with some NOS ones that was discontinued years ago. Some parts are still out there, just have to tell them what you have and the importance of keeping these cars original. Probably going cost a bit though.

The OEM Solenoid Harnesses are gone now. Used to be a few floating around parts stores but, no more. The newer universal Solenoids are also an improved design over the originals.
