i can purchase a brand new TCI Converter, 2004R/700 10-inch Super Street Fighter™ Lock-up. part # 243060. its about a 3400 stall.

anyone have experience with this converter or with TCI in general? no one really seems to use them on our cars.

lock ups tend to shorten tranny life, correct?

would this be a good converter for my car?
car is in sig.

i've noticed that in the turbo regal world, people tend to avoid the brand names that all the "other" musclecar guys use. maybe it's because most of them specialize in torquey V8's and the GN guys don't think that translates all to well to a V6 with a turbo that puts out the same power and torque.
but in the V8 world, TCI is pretty reputable, and as long as you can have the warranty and the stall speed works out for you, i'd say it's worth a shot.

the persons selling it only wants $300 but their wouldnt be a warranty since i am not buying it from the vendor.
im wondering if his converter was built for HIS car. it was going to be for a V8 doing high 11s but 3400 stall was too high for him.

if anything, unless the guy had a torque monster engine combo or something, a 3400 stall would be kind of on the low side for an 11 second car. i'm guessing the guy bought an off the shelf converter, and found out the stall was too low for his needs.
maybe get the part number from the guy, and call TCI and see what they say about using that particualr part in your particular car.

I've got a TCI Street Fighter #243015 in my car right now and just bought the SuperStreetFighter #243020, just didn't get a chance to put it in the car yet. I've had no trouble with the convertor in there now, worked very well for me.
