I'm finally getting around to installing the VDO coolant temp and oil pressure gauges I've had laying around for months.

I just finished installing the temp sensor using a brass Tee and a nipple so I could still use the factory sensor. Out of habit, I put teflon tape on all the joints, but I'm now wondering if this is a good idea ...if the sensor needs to use the fittings as a ground to the block. (it's a one-wire sensor)

So....what has everyone done? Teflon tape or No tape...

I'd really rather not have to worry about leaks, but I do want the gauge to work.

They make a teflon thread sealant in a tube. I know both Loctite and Permatex make it. It won't stop you from making a good ground, but will seal up your fittings.

Thanks for the help guys...

I'll pick up some permatex/loctite sealer and take the teflon tape off.

I used Permatex thread sealer on mine, the VDO matches what the ECM says so it must be close.

Josh...

Well get your hiney over here to Pryor and put this thing in for me!
