I have a 87 we4 I know only 1547 were made but is there a way to find out what number mine was made out of those 1547 thanks

Well the vin on mine ends in 446339. Lets see where your production date falls in line with.

There were no serial numbers and the vin is useless trying to track anything like that.

I would think that yours was built before mine was.

Maybe someone could chime in and let us know, I am thinking that the cars are built according to order by the last 6 digits, that will include all g-body cars, however if there were enough information from all WE4 owners, we could at least find out who among us has the earlier built car to the latest. Would take some work. Would be neat to know!

We need 1544 more to go, but a WE4 is on the board for sale as a roller, I'll get the vin that will be another one down and I have some photos of some others I have looked at.

IMO the VIN sequence doesn't mean much with out the build date. The build date can be found on the cowl tag in the upper left corner. If you could put a timeline on the sequence than you might stumble on to a certain pattern on how TRs were built. For example some months they kicked out twice as many cars than other months. They always built more cars in the spring as compared to winter. :smile:

I will start looking to find that information, thanks for the help, I know there is not a number attached to the cars but it would be neat to find out when they were built compared to others that are still out there. Thanks Again for the help.

Not to be a thread-jacker but my 87 GN was delivered new to a now defunct Buick dealer in Ellicott City. While on the topic of VINs and build sequence, my car is one of the very last GNs, and G-Bodies built in Flint - EVER. I believe it was built on 12/6/87, g body productoin ceased on 12/11/1987. From what I understand, that last week was SLOW there, go figure.

Keep them coming, Im going to ask a friend that creates computer programs/sites if he has a way for us to get all of the options and build dates onto a host website to get info centralized, that will help even more with gaining information regaurding the cars. This will take some time though. Please keep the info coming, I think this is an excellent start. Thanks for helping.
