my temp averages between 200-225
what do you guys temp average, and how do you keep your car. My car has a stock radiator, but it does not bubble or anything, just warm. Can you guys help me out with this?

You have 160 degree theormastat (sp)?? If you don't, get one, and that will help. Is the 200-225 with the ac on or off??

Mine runs 166-168* on a 75-80* day.. I don't know how it runs on hotter days.. I have only seen 172 a few times just b4 it cycled..
It has a 160 thermostat and stock radiator..

hth's a bit..

Pretty Kool!

I have a stock radiator from 86 with stock GN fan and the temp always stays in between 162-166 while driving on an 85-90* day. At Idle, it will never go over 172*. With the AC on, Same temp of 85-90* day, I've seen it go up to 184* while at Idle, and then drop down between 172-177* while driving.

My Car runs very cool IMO, specially since this IS Florida. My fan doesn't turn on until 170* (I don't know if thats the same for all TR's) and it's is hardly ever on when i'm driving.

My secret: 140* thermostat. :D

Stay  .

here in the desert where it gets a little warm (110* today) I figure I am doing good if engine temp is within ambient plus 100 when running the air...I have new radiator, stock fan, RMI & water

thermostat won't make any difference once it is open...unless it is clogged...these cars came with 195 stats, so temps in the 200 range are "normal" in hot weather

if you still have the original radiator, time for a change...guarantee it is 50% plugged at a minimum

Since the gauge is meaningless.....these are scanner readings.

I run 200-210F on 100F days pulling hills. Other than affecting the power, it's nothing for these engines.

I would be curious if anyone can hold the temperature to 180 on 100F day climbing a hill under light boost (<5PSI). I don't see how without an aluminum radiator holding 5 gallons of water/coolant.

Anyone?

I agree, ambient + 90-100F is doing good.

that temp posted was without the ac on. my uncle told me to get the aluminuim radiator, and it will run alot cooler. how much is the aluminuim radiator any how?
on another note, how many ball bearing turbo's do we have to choose from and what are there price ranges?

He is right but there is a much cheaper alternative. A three row HD core from Nick Micale in Arizona will solve the problem at about 1/3 the price. he is a member here

I think Nicks radiators are $200. He tested them in the arizona heat, so that should give you an idea to there efficiency.

Aluminum radiators are a minimum of $500

anyone else have this radiator, and was your car running warm before you got the radiator and how is it running now?
thanks guys

i have one of his radiators as well. i run that radiator, RMI-25, Antifreeze and water, and a 160* thermostat. on 75 degree days i see about 167-168 on the scanmaster. on 85 degree days like today it was at 172. the highest i hvae seen while sitting in traffic has been 184. i thinik the radiator is worth it.

AZ Heat

I too have the problem of running hot. Mine ran about 200*-220* today at 110*. My car runs like crap when it gets hot! It will barely idle. About half the time I have to power brake it just to keep it running or it will stall. Any ideas? My scanmaster shows the AFS as flashing "hot" after 143*. I am not so sure this is the car to own in the blistering heat. I also get allot of knock if I get on it at all when its warm. Maybe I have too much fuel 45 PSI and alky sprays at 11 lbs.
