Tensionor ?

I pulled the front cover on my dad's new car. It has had the timing chain replaced with a double roller, but whoever did the install used the chain tensionor. The chain now has some slack due to the tensionor. I know you're not supposed to use the tensionor with a double roller, but should I leave it on, take it off and leave the slack in the chain, or do I have to replace the chain?

It has some slack because someone used a double roller and they often stretch badly.

They also have a tendency to eat the tensioner and add some garbage to the oil pan.

If it were me, I would go back to a factory style chain, tensioner, and new roller thrust bearing on the cam nose. Otherwise, I would ditch the tensioner.

I to used a double roller on my rebuild and after 50 miles of normal driving the chain was pretty loose compared to when I installed it (no tensioner).
If I was to go to the factory style chain and tensioner, which ones are people buying and where? Does fel-pro make one? Thanks

If the stock type replacement is recommended what brand are you buying? Autozone quality, sealed power, fel-pro, etc.

Or should I stay with my new double roller without tensioner? Thanks
