Does anyone have some suggestions on how they ported their wastegate hole for a houston pipe?? I dont want to put the new turbo on and get crazy boost creep.

I just used a Dremel. I think I used the sandpaper-type attachment. Either that or a stone, but IIRC the sandpaper worked better.

I used my dremel and the sanding wheels (smaller one's that come with it).

Did you guys take the Exhaust housing off of the turbo or did you just do it with it on???

Don't tell anyone, but I left the housing on. If you can easily get the housing off it's probably best to remove it but I bought my turbos used and they had a carbon ring that wouldn't allow me to get the housings off. I put a wadded up paper towel in the inlet to collect the shavings and then blew it out with air. I've used the method with 3 different turbos without any problems.

I had bought a new housing so it was off when I did it last but I've done it with the housing attached...just make sure no metal gets up into the turbo...put some white grease on the puck...attach the DP to turbo...move arm so the puck is seated against the housing...remove DP...you should have a nice mark outlining where the puck is in relation to the hole...use a pen or scribe to mark the outline...grind out the hole to about 1"...make sure there is enough meat inside the scribe mark for the puck to seal...smooth the inside edges...think I used a Dremel with carbide bits first...then went to grinding stone...then to sandpaper drum to finish...

Jim and Dave thanks. How hard was it to open up the hole?? How long did it take??

It doesn't take very long, but you have to be careful to follow the lines so you don't make the hole bigger than the puck. Parts of the casting are pretty thick, too - you're not just porting the hollow part of the housing (unless you want an oval or odd-shaped hole).

Make sure you mark the opening before getting started. It only takes minutes with a dremel and a stone. Quick and easy and no more creep.

Exactly!

I think I went through 2 or 3 of those little wheels. Opening them up just a little helps a lot. Stay AT LEAST a full 1/16" inside the outline made by the puck.
I did mine on the car. Didn't hurt a thing.
