Tomorrow is Test&Tune Night at Lancaster Speedway. It is the 8th
mile.I want to run the"87 Turbo-T.I did not get my slicks yet:mad:
I was going to change oil,put bigger filter PF 52?And Fill up with
100 octane. What else should I do to prepare this car? Also Im runnin radials and I cant launch it with out spinning:mad: This is
my first time at track (not first time racing:eek: )How should I launch it?Should I just ease it out or go for broke? Also what should my air pressure be on all 4s?I just wanna see what she can do:D

Take the back tires down between 18 and 24 (It really doesn't matter much, they likely won't hook anyway) and 36 in the front. I run 45 psi in front, but I can't recommend exceeding the mfg's recommendations.

Do a small power brake burnout. Put the car in D for 1/4 mile or leave it in OD for 1/8th mile. Stage with a light or two showing on the boost gage and as the lights come down, just rapidly mash the pedal to the mat and hold it there. If it hooks you'll go fast. If it doesn't hook, the kids in the crowd will think you are cool. You win either way.

If you see knock, don't increase the fuel pressure!!!! :) lower the boost or increase the octane and see if the knock goes away. Save messing with the FP until your 14th or 15th time at the track.

good luck and have fun!

Saturday is test&tune

I got the dates mixed up  So hopefully I will have my Slicks(BFG Drag Radials):D So with these tires 275/50/15 I hope they dont rub!! What kind on burnout do these require? Also Im
planning on installing a dump pipe will this slow me down?I love
the sound:cool:

Do a good intial burnout with the tires, then keep them clean the rest of the night. On T wheels, they shouldn't rub unless you turn very sharply with some speed.

Depending on your exhaust, a dump pipe may pick you up as much as .4/4 mph in the 1/4 mile. The better your exhaust is, the less effective a dump is, to around no difference with a good exhaust. If a car slows down with a dump, the difference is either due to more tire spin or isn't enough to be measurable in back to back testing over a period of time.

Is there a difference, other than the possibility of it shifting to OD in the 1/4 pass?

yep. You want to stay out of OD in the 1/4. it will want to shift between 95 and 105 mph if you let it. Don't let it.

In the 1/8th mile OD is fine. Resist the temptation to listen to people who tell you to start in second and shift manually. There is zero performance gain achieved by shifting a near stock car manually, unless the trans is majorly boffed. In that case, I still wouldn't recommend shifting manually, but rather have to have the trans fixed.
